FIGI is the alias of Vijay Weemhoff, a composer and DJ from Amsterdam. Who discribes his own distinctive sound as a melting pot of inspiration he got from Electro, Detroit style Techno, (Italo/Space) Disco and Fusion Jazz. FIGI is signed on the renown record label Magnetron Music, founded by Kostijn Egberts and Bas Bron (Fatima Yamaha). His debut EP “2099” was distributed on vinyl across shops in Europe, Asia and the US. His forthcoming album “Fig. 1” is expected to be released in 2024.

Since FIGI’s debut on Magnetron in 2022, the artist has released music on labels like Burning Fik as featuring artist on “Medicijntje” by Faberyayo and Zeldzame, LOCH INN for the compilation ‘V/A LOCH INN at De School’ and his own label Very Serious Records.

Live, FIGI performs his own tracks by playing keys, programming a drumcomputer and manipulating synth sounds into unique sounding shows that leave room for improvisation. His livesets are versatile and shaped around the audience and events, this way they have proven to work well in dark intimate night clubs and daytime festival slots.

As a DJ, FIGI selects music more on originality and expression than on genre or style, and showcases his versatility by seamlessly blending captivating grooves. Whether it’s a warm up slot, a peak time set, the after of an after or somewhere in between, FIGI creates an eb and flow giving crowds energy to keep on going for a long time.
